Life on the open road

Camphost

Sometimes, I like to get away from the computer and stretch my legs! I enjoy camphosting part-time (no more than 20 hours per week) in exchange for full (30A) hookups.

Even though I only camphost part-time, it is more than just a job for me. I am a graduate of Sir Sanford Fleming’s ‘Parks and Recreation’ program, which gives me formal education in campground operations and management.

Experience

I have two years experience working for a national park in all aspects of operations and administration in all four seasons as well as having camp hosted for several RV parks in British Columbia and the Yukon.

Knowledge

  • campground operations
  • patrolling and security
  • labour (painting, landscaping, swamping, light plumbing, snow clearing, lawn mowing, weeding, etc.)
  • bookkeeping/night audit
  • report writing (such as requests for government grants)
  • staff supervision
  • Why hire me

  • Since I know the basics of running an RV park and campground as well as the terminology, all I need to know is how you do things. So, when you train me, you never have to start from scratch and I can hit the ground running!
  • I am fluently bilingual in French and English!
  • Excellent references are available upon request.
  • Availability

I will be camphosting in Dawson City for a second summer from May 15, 2010 to September 14, 2010.

I am open to camphosting opportunities in the Okanagan or Greater Vancouver area starting December 1st, 2010, but I am not actively seeking a position at this time.
