Time To Go, But Not Just Yet

I had thought to leave the beach on the 7th of March, but decided to postpone that because of how bad weather is up north right now.

Mondays are my quietest day, so departure was moved to the 11th or the 18th. The 11th, this Monday doesn’t feel right. So I finally called the RV park in San Antonio to make a reservation for two weeks starting on the 18th to light a fire under my butt about getting a move on.

This will put me in San Antonio until April 2nd. I will then move to Austin for a few nights, leaving the fifth or sixth depending on my overnight options (I may test the waters about staying two nights a Walmart). Then Oklahoma for a night, putting me at L’s in Wichita about the eight of April for about three nights.

So around the 11th or 12th of April, I will head firmly north. I have a whole list of destinations I want to hit depending on the weather. And then Canada. And then? Well, my summer plans have changed. More on that once I’ve firmed them up a little. But, yes, I will start by heading to my property.

L and I are going out Sunday night and he’s leaving Monday. 🙁 It’ll be a lonely last week here!

  1. I recently found your blog and am enjoying your writing style. We’re retired fulltimers currently at Pecan Grove RV Park in Austin……….it’s a funky little park right in the middle of most everything in Austin. Just wanted to let you know that we’ve seen as many as three Class A(s) parked for several days at a time at a Sam’s in S. Austin at the corner of 290 and Mopac. It sure appears that they stay overnight. There is a Walmart across the road. I’ll try to answer any questions that you may have. Keep on having fun!! Belva

    • Belva, welcome and thank you for that information! I just checked out Pecan Grove and it sounds like a neat spot if you can get in there.

  2. It is a little sad L is leaving then you are leaving your beach but you will enjoy San Antonio.

We are leaving Monday the 11th in our RV for our holiday to Miami and the Keys.
Lots of unpleasant things going on in our lives, people ill, people dieing, (too young) we can’t wait to get away.

Of course we will always be here on the w.w.w.

    • L misses his kids and grand-babies. Can’t blame him! I’m glad I’ll get to see him again soon, though.

I cannot wait for San Antonio! I actually wish I was there right now, but I have to spend as much time as possible in places where expenditures are low.

I’m sorry life is unpleasant for you right now and hope that your travels are good ones.

  3. That Sam’s and Wal-Mart Belva mentioned are the ones near our house. Google our address and you will see a lot of places to overnight. Costco is just across WmCannon from us and I see RV’s overnight there (including my sister!).

  4. Caroline, that’s where I’m heading when I come through! And I am making up my Costco list. I hear there are great cat litter deals to be had there… 🙂

  5. L here. Before any of you start reading more into Rae and my friendship, STOP IT. I am twice her age and I have daughters older than her. I lost my wife a couple years back and don’t go out by myself. I enjoy having company and Rae is an interesting person.

  6. LOL I made the same comment at the start of our friendship! And ditto back to you. I enjoy our conversations and reminiscing about comparable travels up north and to the UK!
