Today was all about homemaking and getting the rig spruced up for departure tomorrow. I took advantage of the free laundry facilities again and did a few tasks that are made more pleasurable thanks to the abundance of water and 120V power hookups bring.
The package I have been waiting for should be here tomorrow morning. When I ordered it on January 10th, I did not get a shipping confirmation in the days following and made the mistake of not questioning that. By Saturday, I knew something was amiss as priority post should never have taken that long, so I emailed the seller. He apologized profusely that the order had been missed and not shipped!
Now, I’ll admit that I was actually glad to have an excuse (waiting on the package) to prolong my stay here so, really, I wasn’t that displeased to have paid for all those extra nights for ‘nothing.’ But I do want to get a move on to Texas and am quite tired of being here (mostly because of four days in a row of listening to kids shriek all afternoon and into the evening in the playground directly behind my rig).
So with checkout being 1PM tomorrow, I asked the seller if he could overnight courier the package to me first thing Monday (since courier companies work on MLK Day) to arrive Tuesday morning. Yup. They covered the Fedex charge AND refunded me my original shipping cost. So I have nothing bad to say about them (and look forward to reviewing the product they are sending). I believe it’s partly my fault for not checking with them sooner.
Fedex claims the package will be here mid-morning tomorrow. I have no idea how exactly it will get to me. I gave the street address for the park and my site number. In the past, I’ve had courier companies come straight to my site (or my RV in the driveway!), but the park here is gated so the package may end up waiting for me at the office. I didn’t feel I needed to bother asking about having things delivered here since I mentioned waiting for mail to the front desk clerk when I checked in and she automatically assumed I had had the mail sent to them rather than General Delivery.
I had made a loose schedule for this winter with definite milestones to hit to keep me on track and moving towards Saskatchewan. Arrival in Texas was slated for late January or early February so I’m very much ‘on schedule’ and not fretting about not being in Texas yet!
There’s only three or four hours to my planned stop tomorrow (in Texas!) and the same distance to my final stop for February. So a late departure tomorrow is going to be just fine and I should be settled again for the longish haul by this time Wednesday.
By the way, today was a light-weight summer skirt, camisole, and flip flops kind of day!

We are also in Louisianna. We are in Grand Isle State Park – awesome.
Also stayed at Palmetto Island State Park ($16.) and Sam Houston Jones ($16) both have free laundry too.
We had reserved at Grand Isle – didn’t like the spot when we arrived and we were able to move no problem. Too bad you have had such a negative experience with that Park.
Been to Mississippi – if so, any parks you would recommend?

My stay here hasn’t been THAT bad. My goodness, I’m sorry for griping as much as I did and giving that impression! I just haven’t stayed in an RV park in so long I forgot what it’s like.
I’ve only traveled through Mississippi, so I can’t recommend any parks.
As for the weather, I only had a few really bad days here. All in all, I can’t complain about the weather this winter!
You can’t mention having an RC without stating the length and year at least! 🙂

It is a 1999 30′ Glendale Royal Classic. We have a super slide in it. Got it, started to rip it apart, found a leak in the slide section, repaired ourselves, We have put new flooring down (vinyl plank), made our queen bed into a king, took out the dinette and my husband built a desk to go in there., painted it, changed out the bathroom vanity. We love, love, love it. Yours looks to have much more storage space than ours. We sold our house and have just started full timing in October. We took some proceeds from the house and had solar, internet & tv dishes installed. Expensive but it is now our house. We boondocked in northern BC last summer and had nothing and I mean nothing in the way of communication (lucky to even get the CBC radio station), that is the reason we opted for the satellite internet. We look like we are from outer space with the two dishes!! We are just loving this lifestyle. Are you going into New Mexico? Park systems are awesome there are also. If so, will pass on the info to you. We just drove through Texas in two days. Parks are expensive there – pay for the campsite plus a daily user fee! A little rich for our blood. We boondocking totally when in AZ and CA – feel totally safe and close to towns for groceries etc. Can also share those places with you.
Sorry, I should have read your further posts before asking all those questions. Thanks for the info re. New Orleans. We are hoping to do a long day trip up there – not our cup of tea but we are here so we have to see it.

P.S. We have only seen two of our type of rig around – one was apparently for sale in the Maritimes and then while we were staying in Vancouver to finish things up, there was a unit exactly like ours parked on the street.

Melissa, your RC sounds great! I, too, put down vinyl planking. The oak + carpet wasn’t working for me at all. Mine has not only tons of storage, but also tons of carrying capacity. I bet your slide eats up a lot of your CC.
