The Plot Thickens

I had no sooner hit post on the last post when the phone rang. It was CBC Saskatchewan wanting to drive down to interview me about my internet situation!!!

A few hours later, a couple of handsome guys showed up and I was able to tell them my story in both languages (the French one said he hit the jackpot in getting a bilingual interviewee!). They were very sympathetic and outraged.

What is most interesting is that they called SaskTel to ask about our internet situation and as soon as SaskTel heard where exactly, they completely clammed up. I now know that I have stirred up the ant’s nest and that they are not actually ignoring me. The reporter said it sounds like they’re scrambling behind the scenes to come up with a response.

Stayed tuned for the next riveting installment of We Want Internet Service On the Prairie!

    • My MP and MLA are useless Conservatives. My NDP candidate got me in touch with the NDP critic for SaskTel and the minister responsible for overseeing SaskTel. I’ve gone as far as I can politically at this point.

  1. Elaine said it. “Love it!”

Something is going on behind the scenes. I mean, really! What response do they have to come up with other that fix the damn thing! It’s not as if you have not done all the research for them to show what is wrong!

  2. It’s airing on CBC SK tonight and will be on their website tomorrow.

Croft, thank you for recognizing that I’ve done their work for them!

I said to one of the reporters, “I just want to work. It’s not like I’m trying to get on Netflix.” He replied, “This is the 21st century in a developed country. Getting on Netflix shouldn’t be an issue. You should have decent internet. End of story.” YAY.

  3. Sometimes it really is who you know. Friends of ours finally got internet at home when they happened to be seated next to the right person at an event. The person was a bigwig at the company who was appalled at how his employees had been not helping this customer. Here’s hoping you come out as well.

  4. Linda, one of the many problems here is that SaskTel is a crown corporation, so I’m dealing with the government. Having worked for the government, I know how it does things. It is utterly soulless and inherently lazy. Nothing’s going to happen until I get the right politician with enough clout to tell the CEO to fix this. So you’re right about it being who you know and this is why I’m telling everybody even though I know some people are sick of this subject.
