I was awakened at about 3:30 this morning by a loud gale. I stumbled out of bed to close all the windows and roof hatches, which effectively deadened the sound of the howling wind.
But was I able to get back to sleep? No. Why? My %@&%*@( air condition rattles like the dickens. I noticed it was bad on the beach, but it was never when I was trying to sleep.
Tabitha and I would just start drifting off and then, RATTLE, RATTLE, RAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTLLLLEEE, RATTLE. OMG.
Anyone have tips for a rattling AC?
Ear plugs? sorry you haven’t been getting good sleep, with a snoring husband I know what that is like… G
Climb up on the roof and see if you can duplicate the noise by pushing on different sides of the shroud. That should give you an idea of exactly what is rattling. Maybe a screw is missing or something. If not, maybe a piece of Styrofoam jammed between the vibrating pieces might solve it.
Gina, I’m always worried that if I used ear plugs, I would miss a sound that I shouldn’t….
Croft, soon as that wind calms down, I am going up there to find that noise!!!
Go easy on the A/C shroud – they get very brittle with all that exposure to the sun and elements ( found out the hard way)…..
Thanks for that warning, Mike! Glad you piped in before I got on the roof!
