A had a few chores to do today that the me of not that long ago who thought she’d continue having to keep spending three quarters of her life shovelling her truck out of snowbanks could never have imagined….
-
- check the cactus to see if the dragonfruit were ripe for picking (couple more days!)
- check the citrus plant to see if its fruit is ripe enough to pick and finding out what it is (one more day?)
- making a note to ask the neighbour down the street, if I can ever catch him, if he’d mind if I cut the palm fronds from his tree that are hanging over the street and scratching my truck
- fishing a suicidal scorpion out of the pool
- not think twice about going for a swim in almost mid-September
Ah! That last one really tells us where you are.
Although… I like to swim at night, as my end of the day treat, and it is getting rather chilly to do that!
Tough life eh!
The neighbor will probably say yes. However, we would simply move the truck. Mexicans wouldn’t do that. The same with turning down the music, not revving the engine late at night, well, there’s a myriad of things I could list but it’s the fortress mentality. You could probably just cut it off and 9 out 10 they’ll never say a word.
I completely agree about the music, etc. Don’t need to be told about the fortress mentality — I lived in Maz and dealt with so much there, including the barking dogs.
These palm fronds are covering the street at the other end, not over my parking spot. Three of my (Mexican) neighbours who are only here a few days a month have been complaining about it. Since I’m the only one here full-time, I have the best chance of catching the guy and asking him. I’d rather do that than be caught just cutting at this guy’s tree and being mistaken for the annoying kind of expat that you’re essentially saying I’m being.
