A Library Sneak Peak… in the Dressing Room

Remember my new, plain, wardrobe doors?

They have finally been painted:

I tried to get this picture under varying light and flash conditions, but I couldn’t get the colours quite right, not even in my graphic application. The paint is just about exactly the same rich honey colour as the base colour of all the oak cabinetry. The new cabinetry doesn’t blend in, but at least it doesn’t jar. I might one day, as a weekend project, do a faux oak finish on all the new cabinetry, so I’ll at least have the right base colour for that. For now, Donna agrees with me that the paint is a vast improvement over the mishmash of finishes I used to have!

How is this a sneak peak for the library? Hmm…

Kitchen Preview

The rig looks like a tornado blew through it and I still have some painting to do in the library and dressing room, but, but… the kitchen is done. I’m feeling a little dazed at the thought.

I’m going to do a proper before and after of my wonderfully functional RV kitchen, but I just had to provide a sneak peak tonight! Just call me a tease. 😀

Not So Mellow Yellow

I awoke to a bit of a shock. The yellow that was so warm in the somber loft was BRIGHT LEMON in a large, sunny room. At first, I thought that the paint folks goofed with my new batch of paint and then I remembered that I did most of the first coat with the original batch and that the new batch was a perfect match. What a difference natural sunlight makes!

It will be toned down by the curtains, pictures, furniture, etc. so I am not in panic mode at all and I have to say that it is rather cheery!

Since I have so much paint left, and it’s a relatively easy space to work in, I will definitely do a third coat in this room.

The cabinetry colour is also satisfactory, but I’m not spoiling that. 😀

Here’s a random Cute!Cat picture:

A Tad on Edge

I just went to bed and found one of my pillows had fallen between the top of the mattress and the wall. It was wedged in tightly, so I gave it a yank. It pulled loose and then there was a massive thud that shook the rig. I thought that the loft was collapsing!

Just as I was going to throw myself down I noticed the very full and very heavy jug of desicant crystals that had gotten caught with the pillow and dropped almost a foot! Thud indeed!

I’ll definitely feel better once I’ve resealed all my seams!

Bright and Sunshiney

Now, the dining room. I’d like yellow. Not just yellow; a very gay yellow. Something bright and sunshine-y. I tell you, Mr. PeDelford, if you’ll send one of your men to the grocer for a pound of their best butter, and match that exactly, you can’t go wrong! Myrna Loy, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Whew, I got a coat of paint on both the walls and the cabinetry. I really over estimated how much more yellow I was going to need, so I may end up doing a third coat! It’s amazing what a little colour can do. Soon as I got the first brush stroke of yellow on the kitchen walls, it was as though I had a new rig.

I realised something today. My childhood bedroom was very dark and masculine with hunter green walls, burgundy furniture, and ochre accessories to brighten things up. What do I have now as a colour scheme? The exact same thing, but brighter and in more feminine tones! A slightly more grassy green, rose, and a lemony yellow. I haven’t changed as much as I like to think I have!

And wait till you see what I did to the peninsula. This place is really coming together!
