When I told the real estate agent that my RV is parked in Weyburn, her reaction was, “Oh, this serviced plot will make an awesome RV pad for you to come back to in the summer!” *pause* “That’s your intent; right? To leave it vacant and come back once a year to park your RV on it?”
Yup.
And she is confident that the municipality won’t have an issue with that since she knows others in the municipality who do that. I’ve been researching this RV pad idea for ages, so I’m pretty sure I’ve found the only province with towns that will let you do this.
What a great spot! I can just see Miranda parked between the trees! It looks like maybe room for a second pad. Rental?? All kinds of things to think about. Anyway Congratulations!
Price??? Not sure about prices on the prairies so I can’t even hazard a guess. And you made a low ball offer… Humm… $30K? Lower?
Do keep an eye on local government the best you can to see that it stays that way. We actually have a couple places in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area that incorporated as cities so they could be assured of staying mobile home parks with each park being its own city limits.
OK, now I have to go back. I guess I missed something. When I saw the title, it didn’t seem to fit with the blog somehow.
Just like being back in school. Sometimes I wasn’t paying attention. *sigh*
Fabulous lot! What kind of property is around? Open space, houses, fenced lots?
I was hazard a guess at 21,000
Congratulations! This happened fast. I would be tempted to get started on the land stuff first thing, but whatever works for you! The acceptance shows why you should low ball offers. Ya never know.
I’m going to have pictures up shortly!
Everyone who guessed on the price is way, way, way, way, way wrong. Ha ha ha.
The sellers wanted $5,000.
I got the lot for $3,500. I paid cash, so I own my little 4,500 square feet of Saskatchewan free and clear.
Wow! Amazingly cheap. No wonder you could just go get it. My tractor cost a lot more than that more than a decade ago.
The real estate says that $5K would have been a steal and she is shocked that the sellers accepted. I guess that $3.5K cash in their pocket today is better than $5K a year from now!
That is about seventy five cents a square foot! Unbelievable! The servicing alone must have cost them over one thousand!
Norma’s guess was $9K to $10K. I didn’t tell you because I thought she was way low and it would make you feel bad. Should have known better.
Croft, my financial planner says that I stole the plot, LOL The unserviced lots (a bit bigger) were going for $3K.
I know a lot of people think that I have jumped the gun on this, but I have been shopping for a long time and recognized an opportunity when I saw it!
Well, opportunity knocked! A load or two of gravel or crush and an hour with a Bobcat and and you will have a nice, level pad for Miranda! A project for the spring.
What’s interesting is that a few months ago, my financial guy and I decided to rework my portfolio into something riskier but with bigger short-term risks. The money would be locked away for a period of time. I somehow had the foresight to keep a small amount tucked away into a more liquid product. I just had a feeling…
I still maintain that the first expense will be for internet. If I can’t work from my pad, there’s no point in having it. 🙂
