Dale came by around 4:00. We both decided we did not want to experience the rodeo, but we still headed ‘downtown’ towards the grocery store to check out the crowd and some of the riders. She then took me to one of the docks where the pangas come and then she took me along the malecon, following the water front, to the other panga dock. It was starting to get dark, so she showed me the shortcut to the beach and we walked along it hoping to find an open bar, but everything shuts down at dusk! So I guess I will have to start stocking my own beer!
It was a nice walk, several hours long, and I was hungry when we got back to my place. I offered to make us some supper, but she wanted to go check on her dogs. I came in and made a proper pasta meal.
I didn’t think I got that much sun today, but I am cooked! I’ll definitely have to be more diligent with the sunscreen from now on. I also need to buy a beachy hat, not having remembered to bring the one I already own…

Dale wanted me to post a picture of me by my front door to show that I’m really here. 😀

Looking down my street. Notice the stable on the far right?

I THOUGHT these are the pulmonias. They are not!

Really nice basketball court for the kids!

Despite this warning to not drive drunk, I saw lots of people drinking beer and driving tonight.

THIS is a pulmonia!

Pangas.

Looks like fun!

And more ships.

And me again standing in front of a ship called the Iguana.

Icebox hill because the Germans, who settled this area, kept their ice in caves on this hill.

Another fancy place!

Fancy houses up the hill.

This photo does not convey how hellishly STEEP this driveway is!

A dock that does not extend to the mainland…

This is the other panga dock.

Baja ferry. Dale did research and it apparently takes 10 hours to get to Baja!

Beach sunset.

This is what passes for a sidewalk here. I do not recommend crossing it while inebriated because it’s hard enough sober!

Interesting fencing material!

I think you must have seen pretty much ALL the village by now.
I thought it would be a neat trip to walk onto the ferry and visit Cabo on the Baja for a night or two in a hotel. Not until your bank account is restocked of course! 😉
I had the same thought until I learned how long the crossing is! This is a four-day trip at minimum since it’s a 17-hour overnight ride to Baja! I was shocked that it takes this long!
Wow! That is a long trip.
Isn’t it? And it’s apparently not very touristy, smelly, and uncomfortable.
No wonder you are hot & sticky. That is a huge amount of walking to do in that heat and humidity. Usually it takes a week or so to acclimatize. The weather will get cooler and you will be more comfortable but not till January I hope. Meanwhile I am off to deal with -14C.
Actually, the walking outside is fine. It’s no worse than an average summer back in Quebec. What’s uncomfortable is flitting about the house doing laundry and such. There’s not as much airflow as I would have expected, but I’m learning the best settings for the fan!
The nights are comfortable!
Not to sniggle at your misery, -14C isn’t THAT bad. 😉
