I’ve been wearing dresses since losing weight. Some months ago, I came across a find at my local thrift store that really made me excited. It was the perfect travel dress, the kind of dress that I knew I could have spent months searching for the day I was ready to fill a backpack and take off around the world. Made of black rayon and spandex, it can be dressed up or down, is wrinkle free, and dries very quickly after being washed in a sink.
It is a shift style, with buttons down the front and a high gathered waist. It’s a little bit shorter than I normally like, hitting above the knee, but that’s a minor quibble. It’s made by Joe Fresh for Loblaws (really!) and is a size small, which makes me love it all the more. 🙂
I’ve worn this dress a lot since leaving Canada a couple of weeks ago. Most recently, I paired it with my outback hat and Keens for exploring the Desert Museum, then swapped the Keens for dressy sandals and added a colourful pashmina and pretty head scarf to go to dinner. I wore the dress with my Keens and a plain head scarf today and I really stood out next to the women dressed in shorts and tees. Even though I spilled coffee on the dress this morning, you’d never guess it. I just popped into the Starbucks bathroom to rinse it and it was dry in literally minutes.
Rayon is a really breathable fabric, so this dress has been much more comfortable to wear in hot weather than cotton and it also does not retain odours. I don’t have problems with my thighs rubbing together, but I am a lady and like to make sure no one can see up or through my skirts. So I like to pair this dress with a pair of boy shorts, also in a breathable fabric.
I have a feeling this dress and I are going to see a lot of the world together! 🙂
Love the dress. So glad you are enjoying the journey.
I wish I could be comfortable wearing dresses. Some days I miss them. Looks like you got a good one there.
